Ed Potosnak: Right on Job Creation

WOODBRIDGE-- Ed Potosnak, Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, knows that job creation is the most important issue for Congress to address.  Potosnak has pledged to make job creation his top priority once elected.  Potosnak’s opponent, Congressman Lance, spent a mere 59 seconds speaking about job creation on the House floor in the past two years.

“If we provide better support for our small businesses, prioritize research and development tax credits and funding, modernize New Jersey’s infrastructure, and end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, we will see marked reductions in the unemployment numbers in New Jersey,” said Potosnak.
“As a small business owner, I know how to create jobs.  I understand the struggles of small businesses, and I know that small businesses are the engine of our economy,” said Potosnak.  “We need to do more to ease the burden on small businesses so that they can put people in our communities back to work.  In Congress, I’ll work to help the business community thrive and create jobs to the 7th district.”

Congress passed legislation in July to expand access to capital and small business loans.  Referencing the legislation, Potosnak said, “That bill was a start, but Congress took its eye off the ball and should have been addressing job creation every day until our economy picks up and people are back to work.  When it comes to voting to help small businesses, my votes will always be yes, unlike my opponent who continues to vote no.  We must do more to give businesses the access to resources they need and help people out of work get good jobs.
“For more than a century, New Jersey’s 7th district has been home to some of the most innovative companies in the world.  My district has long been called the medicine cabinet of the world.”  The only industry in New Jersey to experience growth during the recession was biotechnology.  “Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies make their headquarters here because our communities are filled with talented potential employees. America leads the world in biotechnology and we should be providing more investment in research and development and tax credits to companies who stay in our communities and don’t ship jobs overseas.”

“Investment in our infrastructure will create jobs now and for years to come while raising property values throughout the 7th district.  I promise to be a strong advocate for transportation projects like the ARC tunnel, and won’t be a roadblock like my opponent,” said Potosnak.  “We know that the development of transportation infrastructure creates lasting jobs and raises property values.  Our district cannot afford to lose out on vital projects necessary to improving our way of life.”

“Congressman Lance has spent his time in Washington focused on saving one job, his own.  I am not running for Congress for a job, I am running to get a job done. When I go to Congress, I will be focusing on bringing good jobs to the 7th district for our families and businesses.  I’m working for our future, not a political career.”
