WHAT:
WESTFIELD -- Ed Potosnak, Democratic candidate for New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, held a press conference about regional trains and infrastructure. He voiced his support for the ARC Tunnel.
"I stand before you today to pledge my support for the critical mass transit project that will benefit our region and my district enormously: the Continued Construction of the Access to the Region's Core, or ARC Tunnel. This project will produce both short and long term jobs, improve quality of life, increase the number of one seat rides and shorten commutes as well as reducing traffic across our communities and throughout northern New Jersey."
In Westfield, Potosnak called for continued work on the ARC tunnel without delay. "The ARC tunnel will be a welcome and necessary addition to our rail system, as an additional tunnel from New Jersey into Manhattan will eliminate the need to switch trains in Newark and increase passenger capacity for New Jersey and New York. We lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funding for the project every day it is delayed. I call on my opponent to join my and insist this project continue."
"When I am in Congress, transportation infrastructure will be central to my plan to help our Region get its edge back. Residents of Central Jersey will have an advocate working every day to ensure that the federal tax dollars they pay will be returned through investments like this - to make our communities stronger for the future."
